Summer jewelry

Mac and I have been busy this summer with jewelry classes and camp. I've also been working Sunday afternoons, as an open studio monitor, and will start assisting in September with a beginners class. So here are a few things we have finished and one I'm still working on.

Movies

I love to watch movies, preferably good ones. Today I watched three. One not so good, the other two, pure gems. We went with friends to see Mama Mia. Ugh, it was a long couple hours. I have to say I am a bit prejudice, having seen Muriel's Wedding so long ago. So much better, and had a real story to go with all that Abba music.

So, as I was still in the movie mood, I spilt the evening up by watching two small films. Each not much more than 90 mins. The first was Bikur Ha-Tizmoret (The Band's Visit). It's an Israeli movie about a small Egyptian police band which travels to Israel to play at the inaugural ceremony of an Arab arts center, only to find themselves lost in the wrong town. Nothing big happens, just life... slow and sweet. I felt refreshed.

Then I moved on to Elling. A Norwegian film about two mental challenged roommates who move out on their own into and Oslo apartment. Again, nothing big happens, no action shots, no explosions, and not one dance segment. You just felt good and alive after watching it.

All in all, I don't mind wading through the not so great films, so once and a while, I can find ones like these.
